We were responsible for the art direction, the photo editing and layout of the project by the photographer Álvaro García. A photobook that is not about street photography, nor about NY, it has nothing to do with the search for spontaneity or new ways of looking. This side of nowhere is about its author, about loneliness in front of the world, about his being as an observer, trying to find personal answers without concrete questions.
In 2017 he decided to start this project in the streets of New York, a city far from his environment but which was inevitably familiar to him through cinema and the images of great photographers. It seemed interesting to choose a place of which he already had a very definite visual reference through the work of others, to establish a comparison and often to be surprised by his own vision, reaching certain conclusions about himself and about his often-conflicting relationship with the rest of humanity.
With the author, we were involved in the process of curating and selecting the work, presenting the narrative of the images and offering technical advice for the edition.
