Throughout the history of literature, women have always been relegated to the background, often being forced to sign under pseudonyms in order to publish. Literary Barcelona is no exception and has been traditionally dominated by a male perspective.
Flors i violes seeks to analyse the city’s literary world from a female perspective, divided into three main parts (women writers, female characters and real characters).
When we were commissioned to carry out this project, we were asked to break up its 350 pages in some way, giving it some dynamism. We decided to commission an illustration to the illustrators Laura Pérez, Eva Zurita, María Herreros and Helena Pérez to accompany the typographic covers that open each of these 3 sections (plus the author’s note).
