Design and art direction of the book The Bar: Tribute to the Dry Martini by Javier de las Muelas for Planeta Gastro.
The Barcelona cocktail bar Dry Martini opened its doors in 1978 in the emblematic Aribau street. Run by Pere Carbonell and later by Javier de las Muelas, it was among the 50 best bars in the world for 6 consecutive years.
Nowadays the bar serves all kinds of cocktails and drinks, but its Dry Martini still deserves its fame and name. When Planeta Gastro commissioned us to design a book to commemorate its 40 years of history, we had no doubt that the design would be linked to the history of the drink that gave the bar its name and that it would reflect what Dry Martini is, a drink (and a bar) that is both modern and classic at the same time. A design crowned on the cover by a holographic stamping and all the text in black with varnish on black lining.
